The Uptown Social Michigan City is a truly unique wedding venue that offers a variety of features and amenities for brides and grooms. Included in this are private dressing rooms for the couple, a spacious U-shaped balcony that overlooks the grand ballroom, a secluded outdoor brick courtyard that exudes elegance, and a private reception bar. Situated in the heart of the Uptown Arts District in Michigan City, Indiana, along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan, the venue’s location provides easy access to the main beach and lighthouse, which offer endless opportunities for stunning and creative photography. Additionally, there are several walls with murals and weathered surfaces in close proximity to Uptown Social, making it convenient to find beautiful backgrounds for group photos just a short distance down the road. Great Staff at Uptown Social Michigan City

The staff at Uptown Social are exceptional and have an impressive ability to transform the room quickly, efficiently, and beautifully. During the cocktail hour, while guests are occupied in the bar area, the ceremony area seamlessly transitions into the reception area without anyone noticing the busy activity taking place. If you are searching for a unique wedding venue, I highly recommend The Uptown Centre in Michigan City, Indiana.

A little history of Uptown Social

A brief history of Uptown Social reveals that 907 Franklin, the venue’s location, was originally constructed in 1867 as St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church. In 1968, the church relocated to a different site, and 907 Franklin was later converted into the Canterbury Theater, which became a well-known establishment in Michigan City. After standing vacant for 30 years, the building was purchased by a couple in 2012 who transformed it into an event space known as The Uptown Center. Countless weddings and events have taken place within its walls since then. In February 2020, Tim Enright and Ashley LoMaglio acquired the building and embarked on a complete renovation project. The restoration work aimed to preserve the original church’s look in certain areas while adding modern touches as necessary. As a result, the venue now seamlessly combines historical charm with contemporary style.

Uptown Social Michigan City Wedding With Southpaw!

I will always look back and smile at this Uptown Social wedding from a few years ago. Southpaw from the White Sox showed up as a surprise during the open dancing at the reception. The bride had planned it and kept it a secret. The groom was ecstatic, and the guests were all so excited to join Southpaw on the dance floor.
