My Wedding Photography Gear List 2025
There is a fine line between toys and tools!
I realized a long time ago that a person’s skill as a photographer cannot solely rely on the amount of equipment they possess. However, I have also come to understand that even the most talented photographer cannot produce their best work with cheap or subpar equipment.
Moreover, I have witnessed numerous times at weddings that having backup equipment is an absolute necessity. As a professional who is entrusted with capturing memorable moments on a one-time occasion, I must ensure that I have backups for everything I use.
Taking all these factors into consideration, I have invested in top-notch gear and I always carry an abundance of it. This is a list of the equipment I bring to every wedding:
I generally work with two cameras on me all day and have a third as extra redundancy.
Cameras:
1 x Canon R5Mk2 – Ultra High Resolution and fast.
2 x Canon R6Mk2 – Fast and wonderful in low light.
Each camera uses two memory Cards for extra redundancy.
Lenses:
Canon RF 28-70 f2/L – Nearly always on me. Crazy sharp and fast.
Canon RF 15-35 f2.8/L IS – When I need to go wide.
Canon RF 35 1.4/L – When I cannot use flash this is a life saver.
Canon RF 50 f1.2/L – Ultra fast and sharp.
Canon RF 70-200 f2.8/L IS – Versatile and fast.
Canon RF 100 f2.8/L Macro IS – Details rock with this lens.
Canon RF 85 f1.2/L IS – My favorite lens! Ultra fast super sharp.
Flashes:
4 x Canon EL-1
2 x Canon EL-5
2 x St-e3 RT v2 Remotes
Lots of back up batteries!
I fit all this gear in a single ThinkTank roller bag to make sure I am highly mobile. I carry a few light stands and modifiers too.
I have a few other lenses more suited for wildlife and sport and a 4th camera body I keep at home mainly for family and travel.
This wedding photography gear list has been refined, tweaked and updated from years of wedding experience. I stay on the cutting edge of technology to maximize my creative freedom.
