5 Compelling Reasons to Book a Maternity Photographer in Chicago

Capture the Magic of Pregnancy Before It’s Gone

Pregnancy is an extraordinary journey filled with both joys and challenges. Although you’re embracing the beauty of glowing skin and a charming baby bump, you might also be dealing with swollen ankles and mood swings. Despite these ups and downs, scheduling a maternity photo shoot in Chicago allows you to document this incredible phase. Here are five reasons to celebrate your pregnancy with stunning maternity photography.

1. Celebrate and Remember the Bump

As your pregnancy progresses, you might find yourself overwhelmed by discomforts like an aching back or sleepless nights. While you may not miss these struggles, you’ll eventually long for the days of feeling your baby’s kicks and hiccups. Maternity photos serve as a timeless reminder of the life you nurtured, capturing the beauty and magic of your pregnant journey.

2. Embrace Your Beauty and Feel Empowered

Pregnancy can sometimes chip away at your self-confidence, but a professional maternity photographer captures the radiant beauty of this unique time. By dressing up and treating yourself to a pampering session, you’ll rediscover how stunning you truly are. These photos will remind you of your inner strength and the miracle of creating life.

3. Strengthen Your Relationship with Your Partner

Expecting a baby can introduce stress and tension into your relationship, but a joint maternity photo session provides a moment to focus on the love and excitement shared as you become a family. It helps both partners bond with the unborn child, laying the foundation for a strong family connection.

4. Personalized and Comfortable Experience

Opt for a maternity photographer in Chicago who understands your preferences and comfort levels. Whether you want to showcase your bump boldly or prefer a subtle approach, an experienced professional will work with you to capture photos that’ll make you proud—and keep you comfortable during the session.

5. Cherish the Memories as Your Family Grows

From swaddling your newborn to watching them mature, time passes quickly. Maternity photos become treasured keepsakes for you and your child, offering glimpses into a world they will never see otherwise. These photos will eventually be a source of pride and nostalgia for future generations.

When should you schedule your maternity photos?

One of the first questions my clients often ask is when they should schedule their maternity photos. The straightforward answer is between 30 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. It’s crucial to remember that planning your session takes time. Additionally, because the window is limited to one month, it’s best to book sooner rather than later. Read on to learn more about when to schedule your maternity session.

Why between 30 and 36 weeks?

At this stage, your baby bump is noticeably pronounced, making it clear in photographs that you are pregnant. This is also before you reach full term. It’s advisable to avoid scheduling a maternity session at full term for a couple of reasons:

1. You may feel uncomfortable during the last few weeks.

2. Labor can begin at any time once you reach full term, and once the baby arrives, the opportunity for maternity photos is no longer available.

Both of these considerations are important. Signs of discomfort can be visible in photographs, and posing can be challenging when your center of gravity is off. We also want to ensure that we’re not doing anything to induce early labor. Maternity sessions often involve a lot of movement, which might hasten labor if you’re close to your due date.

Pregnant with Multiples

Another factor to consider is the number of babies you’re expecting. If you are carrying multiples, the timeline will need to be adjusted accordingly. Your bump will become more prominent earlier, and you may experience discomfort sooner as well. Typically, we can schedule the session about a month earlier, but this can vary depending on your specific pregnancy, whether you’re expecting twins or triplets.
