Independence Grove Wedding

Independence Grove Wedding. Rain on my wedding dayIndependence Grove Wedding. Hannah and David are one of the most laid-back couples I have ever worked with. I remember their engagement session, when we drove around searching for trees with vibrant fall colors. Even then, I realized how effortlessly I could capture their connection on camera.

Some couples simply exude comfort and their bond is instantly visible from the first photograph. It truly makes a difference when the couple is happy and smiles frequently. Throughout the entire wedding day, Hannah couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. Regardless of the location or the weather, she radiated joy.

No amount of rain could stop Hannah and her smiles!

One of the many reasons I use Canon Cameras, my gear is very water resistant and can perform in rain no problem.

I would have missed so many happy moments at this wedding had I not been comfortable taking candid photos in the rain as the day unfolded.

Independence Grove in Libertyville, Illinois, is a stunning venue, even on a rainy day. I was relieved that Hannah and David decided to have a first look early in the day, considering the rain. Of course, as luck would have it, the rain started just as we began the session. However, we were able to quickly capture some intimate moments before seeking shelter.

Here are some of my favorite photos from this remarkable Independence Grove Wedding.

Four distinct spaces at an Independence Grove Wedding

1. Audubon Hall: This award-winning building combines cedar, stone, and glass to create an upscale rustic design. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of the lake, making it a breathtaking backdrop for your reception. It comfortably accommodates 275 guests, or up to 300 if you don’t mind a smaller dance floor.

2. North Bay Pavilion: With scenic views of the North Bay, this location is perfect for a picturesque waterfront wedding. The striking cedar pavilion, coupled with the adjacent open space, provides flexibility for a beautiful bayside ceremony and reception.

3. Native Garden: Follow the winding red brick paths to this intimate garden, where a waterfall, wildflowers, and abundant greenery create a tranquil and private setting for your dream outdoor wedding ceremony. This space can host up to 250 guests.

4. Millenia Plaza: An open-air space adorned with brick pavers, lush landscaping, and captivating views of the marina and lake. With the right investment in tenting, lighting, and climate control, it can be transformed into a unique event space capable of accommodating up to 500 people.
