I love it when clients ask for sessions in Chicago.

I live in Hyde Park so most places in Chicago are an easy travel for me.

Kinzie Street Bridge is always a favorite spot to start engagement sessions in Chicago. It offers awesome views of the city and also has cool structure to shoot through.

 

North Avenue Beach is another favorite place couples choose. I love the incredible wide views of the city. Reflections and dramatic skies are almost always available at sunset. Chicago Parks does require a permit for sessions here. It is reasonably priced and easy to get online. I have an account with the park district for this and am happy to get permits if clients cover the fee.

Garfield Park Conservatory is a great all weather venue. They also require a permit, but the indoor gardens are well worth it for winter sessions in a warm area with lovely greenery.

I typically include an engagement session free with every wedding I book. This gives me time to get to know couples. The sessions are about an hour to 90 minutes and I like to do one or two close venues. Many couples like to start at a venue in the city among the buildings. The area around the river walk is popular. After some photos around the buildings many couples like to end at the Planetarium or a beach for sunsets and wide city views.

The wooden structure at the Lincoln Park Zoo is a fun space as well. It also requires a permit.

The city views are well worth it.

This couple contacted me looking for an engagement photographer in Chicago. They had a destination wedding planned so they did not need me for their wedding.
