I absolutely adore barn weddings and Circa 1856 is one of my favorite rustic venues!

The Chicagoland and north west Indiana region have a plethora of magnificent barns to choose from. Whether it’s the expansive County Line Orchard, rustic Blue Dress Barn in Southern Michigan, or the charming Circa 1856, there is a barn to suit every couple’s taste.

While Circa 1856 primarily serves as a barn venue, they also provide a delightful bridal suite in a lovely little house. This accommodation offers everything a couple needs to prepare for their special day, and they even have the option to stay overnight after the wedding. This eliminates the need for a long drive after a tiring day.

Circa 1856 has so many cool backgrounds

The venue offers numerous perfect backdrops for fun and memorable photos. I particularly adore the image of Katie standing between these barn doors.

Katie and Joseph opted for a first look, a decision that I never interfere with as I believe it should be entirely up to the couple. However, a first look often allows for more relaxed photos and a more flexible schedule. It also relieves the pressure of being in front of a crowd during the ceremony. We arranged their first look on the side of one of the barns.

Their ceremony took place near the serene pond, and a gentle breeze kept everyone comfortable. Eric Jaeger from MB Events officiated and served as their DJ, bringing his awesome personality to the occasion. Eric is one of my favorite DJs and offers personal touches that few others can match. His customized story about Katie and Joseph had everyone at the reception laughing uncontrollably. He truly has a gift for storytelling.

Sunsets on your wedding day are the best

I have a soft spot for sunset weddings, and Circa 1856 never fails to provide a stunning sunset. I was excited to take Katie and Joseph out for a brief ten minutes to capture some breathtaking sunset portraits. If you’re familiar with my work, you’ll know that I have a penchant for seeking out reflections wherever I can find them.
