Erica and Eric’s Barn and Vineyard Wedding Beecher Illinois
This was one of my favorite weddings from last year. Erica and Eric had a stunning wedding ceremony at Faith Church in Highland, Indiana. They decided not to do a first look, but instead held hands around a corner and shared an intimate prayer moment with their pastor. I truly cherish these special moments. To capture the moment without causing any disruption, I opted for a longer lens with a very wide aperture and did not use flash.
Erica also had a first look with her father. These moments always bring tears to my eyes. Her father was filled with pride, and the photos perfectly captured the raw emotions as he saw her in her dress and reacted like any loving father would.
The ceremony took place in the church sanctuary, which had a breathtaking roof and lighting. I made sure to capture Eric’s expression as Erica walked down the aisle. One of the main reasons I always have two cameras with me at weddings is to capture these moments during entrances. I zoomed in on Eric with a longer lens while he stood up front, then switched to a wider lens on the other camera to capture Erica and her dad. I could then pivot and capture Eric as Erica approached the front of the sanctuary.
After the ceremony, we headed to The Barn and Vineyard in Beecher, IL for the reception. This venue is a beautiful combination of modern and rustic, with an indoor/outdoor setting. The rustic barn has two levels and a spacious area for a dance floor. The outdoor space boasts a five-acre vineyard and numerous picturesque locations that provide endless photographic opportunities for any couple.
We arrived just before sunset and took some lovely outdoor photos before the reception began. After dinner was served, we sneaked back outside for a few sunset photos. We spent around ten minutes outside, capturing the beautiful images as the sun set.
The vineyards are a fun place for formal photos. I love the nature in the background, the soft evening light and the leading lines of the vines.
When I saw the water behind the barn, I just had to get a few reflection photos!

Without missing any moments at the reception, we soon returned inside for lively and entertaining speeches and danced the night away.
