Chicago Engagement Session In Spring
From Blooming Love to Captivating Sunsets: A Chicago Engagement Session to Cherish
As the vibrant seasons unfold in the magnificent city of Chicago, love blossoms in the air, creating the perfect backdrop for a captivating engagement photo session. Tara and Alex had a truly enchanting experience that encompassed both nature’s beauty and the city’s charm. They booked me to capture a spring engagement session at Garfield Park Conservatory followed by sunset photos at North Avenue Beach.
They embraced the Beauty of Garfield Park Conservatory
Garfield Park Conservatory, located in the heart of Chicago, provided an idyllic setting for their engagement photo session. Its botanical wonders served as a perfect backdrop, reflecting the blooming love between this couple. I just loved how they looked at each other. Some couples really make my job easy!
The conservatory’s glass-domed rooms, with their cascading waterfalls and kaleidoscope of colors, offered endless opportunities for capturing the purest moments of joy and connection.
Sunset Romance at North Avenue Beach
After wrapping up some incredible photos at Garfield Park Conservatory, we braved the traffic for a drive to North Avenue beach. This is not an ideal drive at rush hour, but thankfully we planned ahead and allowed ample time to arrive before sunset.
North Avenue Beach offers a picturesque skyline of Chicago as it merges with the waters of Lake Michigan. It’s always a favorite stop when I do a Chicago engagement session. The golden hues on the buildings contrasted the blue sky on this evening.
With the iconic Chicago skyline as our backdrop, we started with some photos on the walkway out to the little structure past the beach. We found a spot with reflections and the clouds were a colorful backdrop for Tara and Alex as they walked and enjoyed the moments.
Chicago Engagement Session With Awesome Reflections!
We ended the session near the North Avenue Beach Chess Pavilion. There are a few reasons I love to end most enegagenmet sessions here when we go to North Avenue beach.
- It gives stunning views of the city close up.
- It is often less crowded as most people gather by the volleyball courts.
- Lastly and my favorite, it often has wet areas that make great reflections for a couple and the city.
We took full advantage of the reflections. I popped a little bit of light on Tara and Alex and let them enjoy the moment with some fun walking and standing poses. I mixed up wide low angle shots to maximize the reflections and the grandeur of the city and sunset. The lower angles make reflections pop. Contrasting this, I also used a higher lens with a very wide aperture to focus in on Tara and Alex and blur out the city behind them. This makes them alone the focus of the photos with just a hint of where they are at. I find this adds some drama and mixes well with the wider photos with the city and sunset also in focus.
