A New Hyde Park Family Photographer
It has been a few months since my wife and I moved from Munster, IN to Hyde Park in Chicago, IL.
As a photographer running my own small business, I had some apprehensions about the relocation.
Even though it’s only 25 minutes away, it’s a new state with new areas and new clients to build relationships with.
Some old clients would still reach out to me or I would go to them. I was thrilled when this couple contacted me for a family session in Hyde Park.
They had hired me to photograph their wedding a few years ago and are one of my all time favorite couples.. I truly enjoy witnessing families grow!
Hyde Park Family Photographer Beach photo session
Anna was concerned that her daughter would not be very cooperative. One unfortunate side effect of Covid has been the lack of social interaction for many young children. They have spent the first year or two of their lives around very few people. However, thanks to the beach, bubbles, toys, and great weather, her daughter was soon happy and running around. This little bundle of energy kept us all busy as we guided her away from the water when she got too deep, haha. She just wanted to race in and splash!
The Beach in Hyde Park is wonderful for family photos!
Location, Location, Location. One of the best aspects of this session is that this beach is only three blocks from our new home and a few from my photo studio as well. So, I foresee many beach family mini sessions in the future, haha. I captured most of the photos in this session using a tight long lens and wide aperture to blur out any distracting backgrounds. The one downside of beach sessions at sunset in excellent weather is that there are people everywhere, haha. However, with some creative angles and maneuvering past the crowds, we managed to find plenty of space without too many photobombs.

I cannot count how many former wedding clients have been back and continue to come back to get family photos.
