Adler Planetarium Wedding in Chicago
I remember meeting Matthew and Sam at a wedding show about a year before their wedding. They walked up to my booth and paged through some albums. We chatted about the photos in some albums and then chatted about their dreams of an Adler Planetarium Wedding in late 2025.

I was so stoked when they reached out to come and meet with me in my studio in Hyde Park to go over more information and choose a package.
When their day finally arrived, we started at The Chicago Athletic Association for the getting ready photos. The plan was to get some photos indoors then dash out to the area outside across the road from the Bean of some photos. Sadly the rain and crazy wind had other plans. Undeterred, we did some creative shots in the Athletic Club room.

This space in the lobby with the blue light and tunnel was great for some formals. I popped a blue gel on a flash behind everyone to add some extra blue as well.

It was so cloudy and so very windy. It would have been such a stunning city view most nights. But we got a few shots before my lights all blew over haha. So glad they survived.

MDM Chicago Entertainment set up an incredible dance floor.
The uplighting and music was also top notch. It was such a pleasure working with MDM.

Adler Planetarium Wedding – The Solarium
The Solarium is such a stunning space inside Adler Planetarium. During the day it floods with light. At night it has the most incredible city views most evenings. The view was sadly lost due to the rain, but the lighting and decorations inside more than made up for the lost view outside. As a photographer it was a bit of a challenge to light. But I came prepared with some extra small flashes I could hide around the room. The real trick was casting some fill light without washing out the awesome uplighting and blue hues. I gelled my off camera flashes to match the ambient lighting and I think it worked out well.

Adler Planetarium Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was a very intimate layout on the side of the main dance floor. Again the clouds and rain robbed us of amazing city views, but the ceremony itself was still perfect. In a way not having the view only made everyone focus more on the ceremony.

Adler Planetarium Wedding Reception

Freaking loved this dance floor!

I had to get a wide shot of the dessert table with the moon behind it.
Only an Adler Planetarium Wedding would have such a cool background!

The mix of lighting on the roof and the up-lit dance floor was so much fun to work with for some creative photos with a little motion blur.

I hope you enjoyed this blog. I hope I get to capture another Adler Planetarium Wedding soon. Such a cool venue!
